What do you want only night-life?
Hamburg is No. 1 in German City tourism. No city in Germany offers so much culture and enjoyment in Germany like Hamburg. Hamburg compares with Paris, London, Rome, Moscow and St. Petersburg. No other German city plays in this class. Hamburg has 100 museums more than Berlin. Why ? Simply Hamburg is rich Berlin is poor. In the coming economic crisis the German GIP will decrease by about 2.7% but that of Hamburg still increases by about 2%. The best thing of the city is there are no no-goareas.
Climate is in winter warmer in than that of Munich. In summer mostly Munich is warmer, but that is not true for each summer. This summer Hamburg was extreme warm while Munich was cold. The year before it was opposite But generally Hamburg has more sunshine hours than Munich. But do not mention that in Hamburg ... we love our rain.
If you are in Hamburg, you also should visit Lübeck and perhaps Lüneburg.
If you are interested in technology --- then you have to visit Munich.
The "Deutsche Museum" is the best technology museum Germany offers. |

Hamburg has the best nightlife of all of Germany.
Sankt Pauli or the Reeperbahn is the red light district. Yes, you will see lots of sex shops, bars with ladies dancing on tables and even prostitutes roaming the streets.
BUT even though this sounds rather extreme, it's the place where everyone goes out to party. Yes, it can get cold, so get a coat, but it really depends on what time of the year you want to visit.
Other than nightlife, Hamburg has a lot to offer as well. Nice hotels, great scenery and you have to take a harbor boat tour. The lake Alster is beautiful and we have great shopping.
Downside: Hamburg costs a lot. But so does Munich ;-) |

Hamburg is up north, a masrshy area, but a very well liked Old German City. a Lot of good eateries and little shops. CAN get quite cold up north.
id perfer Munich (Munchen in Detsuch*German*)
It is very south, near the Austrain Border, but a unique city. Lovely eateries and shopping. your choice, but Munich is the better choice |

You dont go to Germany for nightlife, you go to Germany for boring castles, you want good nightlife? go to Amsterdam or Stockholm, but the best is Las Vegas |
