Hitler's bunker does not really exist any more. All you really see is where it used to be. Be careful, there are a number of places that claim to be it. I studied in Berlin with the Goethe Institut and went on a walking tour with a history professor from one of the Universities in Berlin, and he took us to where it once was. I believe, given his credentials, that where he took us was correct, but it was not exactly either very interesting or chilling.
I can recommend, nearby, two other Holocaust related sites - the Topographie des Terrors exhibit, and the Holocaust Memorial. Go see them!
Another thing, if you want daytrips, is that you can, from Berlin visit the Wannsee house, where the final solution was decided, and Sachsenhausen Concentration camp. They are the end stations on the S-Bahn in opposite directions, and actually in Brandenburg, and of course, worthwhile to visit. |

I'd like to see it. The last time I was in Berlin, it was still in the Eastern Zone so I could not have seen it, even if it had NOT been burried under a parking lot and closed to the public.
I think it would be interesting. I've been to the war room in London and, or course, I've been in the Pentagon more times than I would care to admit... but I think the Furrenbunker would be interesting to see. |
