Yes, I spent 4 months in College in Reutlingen, Germany in 1985 and then as a Siemens employee participated in Global Supplier Negotiations in 2000 in Amberg & Schwartzenfeld and again in 2002 in Nuremburg, and Munich, and once again in 2003 in Regensburg.
Love Germany. Can't wait to go again. |

Yes! And it a great place with so much to see.
If you like history...castles, palaces and fortresses...and lovely old buildings and churches, cathedrals etc etc. and beautiful scenery, then you will love it. And the beer is not bad either ;-)
I am particulary fond of Bavaria...but there are so many interesting places to see.
Its so easy to travel the country by train. Theres no shortage of good accommodation etc etc.
Get yourself a good book. I recommend the Lonely Planet book of Germany for very good information. |

Oh yeah- working on my second tour (6th year) there as an army officer. I've lived in Wiesbaden near Frankfurt and am now in a small town named Baumholder just south-east of Trier (by the Belgian border). I've travelled all over southern and western Germany and been as far north as Putlos (on north sea). It is a fantastic place to live and tour and a great place to experience the European ambiance of old culture and historic places. A trip up the Rhine or Mosul Rivers will take your breath away and you can never seem to quite get enough. Travel down to Garmish-Partenkirchen and you can ride a train to the top of the Zugspitz mountain on the edge of the Bavarian Alps and see 5 countries from the observation peak (Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, and France). The food is great, the spirits even better. Once you've had an authentic, lip smakin' German beer- the American mass produced brands taste like water. Getting a hold of the language is not difficult and the transportation in and around Germany is really a piece of cake. Get out to the smaller locals and you'll be welcomed with a hospitality you just can't find anywhere else. The great thing about Germany is you are in the center of Europe so there are countries galore available to visit besides Germany that are only a few hours away by train or plane. |
