My cat Jake owns me

Have you ever seen a teacher in Germany wear blue or black jeans?

My husband, who is an Engineer, wears jeans to work. He says most companies in Germany have a relaxed dress code, and it is OK for me to wear jeans to my teaching job. I have a pair of black jeans that are comfortable, but wonder if these are appropriate to wear while teaching young children in a private school.

I made my "Abitur" (university allowance, that is) in 1986, and back then, most of my teachers wore black and blue jeans, and even some of my profs at university did. Jeans still are the common kind of trousers worn by men and women in Germany, and it's absoultely appropriate to wear them when teaching young children. Anything else might seem to be overdressed; but just to be sure, you should ask the headmaster of the school where you're going to teach if special dress codes apply. If not, jeans, shirt, leather shoes, and a casual jacket are absolutely appropriate for a young teacher.

It is and has been (even when I was a school kid) o.k. to wear jeans. There are many styles, and if they are not ripped, torn or soiled, they are perfectly alright. Color does not matter neither, any color is o.k.

Yes, jeans are ok. Just leave the ones that are slitted or ripped (so that one can see your panties) and stylishly soiled with paint at home. ;-)

I've got an office job and I've worn jeans to job inverviews (and got the job too).

I also know plenty of teachers who wear nothing but jeans.

I grew up in Germany and yes, some of my teachers wore jeans. Black and blue.

I am an American who spent a year teaching at a school in Germany. At my school in the US, we must dress "professionally"... no jeans. So, I only took one pair of jeans with me for the year. I found that the school where I taught had a very relaxed dress code for teachers. I wore jeans probably about 60% of the time, and went out and got more jeans while in Germany.

It depends on the school where ull teach. but in public school u can absolutely wear whatever u want to wear. i mean u cant come naked. lol. but dont worry u can wear jeans. i know that, cause im going to a german school. some teacher were the ugliest clothes! And almost all off them were jeans.

Hi there I would check the schools homepage ... in Rome do it as the Romans do. If they do not wear jeans - I would not; If they do u are free to do so as well.
