I've seen it in a liquor store in Regensburg some years ago but lately I haven't seen it anywhere. I know they sell it in Czech Republic and here in Germany you can buy chocolate with Absinthe in it. |

I got a chance to vitis a company in essen a few years back that actually produces the stuff (http://www.rauter.de/). I tried it but it wasn't my thing at all, but the myth around it is interesting, how so many people used to be addicted to it etc. |

Yes, they sell it at our local drink market in a town of 14,000! It's pretty nasty stuff, but I think it's great mixed with orange Fanta, another drink I don't particularly like! |

Yes, although it's not exactly you'll find at the local grocery store, generally. I never cared for that stuff, anyway--why would you want to drink an alcohol fermented from something called "wormwood"? Besides, it's nasty. It smells good, but it's like drinking gasoline that's been lit on fire and given a slight licorice taste. I had some that I'd bought from Spain; after trying it and finding it to be utterly foul, I gave it to a binge-drinking friend of mine who had probably previously burned out his tongue past the point of knowing any better. |

Yes. I drank Absinthe a few times in Germany. Usually is is clear with a gentle green tint, served in a shallow glass. The local tradition where I lived was to let a spoonful of sugar soak up the liquor, then light the sugar/alcohol mix on fire, holding it above the glass. the burning liquid will drip down into the remainder still in the glass and ignite it. After a few moments, the fire is blown out and the sugar is stirred into the drink after which it is consumed. Have friends close by and be careful. |
