Hotel --- don't know. There are a lot but at the low end Hamburg is a little bit more expensive than Berlin (Berlin is poor -- Hamburg is rich), but Hamburg has no nogoareas.
The cheapest sightseeing tour. You take the "Alsterdampfer" and make a round tour from "Jungfernstieg" to "Jungfernstieg" then you walk through "Speicherstadt" to "Baumwall" there you take the ferry to Wedel. From there you go by bus to "S-Bahn Wedel" there you take S-Bahn to central-station (Hauptbahnhof).
The tour will cost you about 5 Euros. all is public transport. But I have heard the "Alsterdampfer" is extra today.
Greetings from Hamburg, Germany

I'm an american living in germany for 20 years. Hamburg has to be one of my favorite places to visit. If you only have one night you don't really have enough time to enjoy the sights. I recommend going to the boardwalk and taking a river cruise. These are very cheap and the ferry stops at several locations before returning to the boardwalk. At the east end of the walk there is an old looking warehouse district that houses a couple of museums, the best in Germany has to be the miniature train display. I've been there at least 6 times and it gets better every time I visit it. Go early in the morning the lines are usually long. One day is just not enough time to see Hamburg. As for hotels try to get one one on the river, if you wait until you get to Hamburg go to the tourist office and they can help you find a room for the night in your budget. Have fun!! |

I am booking my hotels mostly at
HRS Hotel Reservation (the pages are in English too)t
http://www.hrs.de/
Mostly the price of hrs is a little bit lower as if you book the hotel directly. On their page you can find out the distance to the center, the railway station etc., furthermore the star rating etc.
I am very content with them. |
