Besides Sixt there is no other rental car close to Hahn Airport since it is a very small airport belonging to the "mother-airport" Frankfurt. Hahn used to be a military base for airforce, but it was closed down and that's when civil airport Frankfurt "took over". In case you need to get to Frankfurt from Hahn, best bet would be to catch one of the transfer-busses. They go all the time and might even be free of charge. There is no trainstation nearby, either. So, like I said, in case of needing this rental car just to get to a bigger city, best bet would be taking the transfer-bus. |

Only SIXT - they are probably the most competitive with decent cars. |

You can also try Hertz and any of the other well known companies....they're all at the Frankfurt Flug waiting for you...however, to the best of my recollection F Hahn, isn't in Frankfurt at all.....it's a smaller airport outside, way outside, of Frankfurt am Rhine...which is where the international airport is located. Good luck. Sorry to ramble, thought you might be an American tourist who was swashbuckled into flying to F Hahn rather than the larger airport....obviously not. |

I have used consolidators to book cars with the major companies, rather than booking direct (or via Ryanair's link!) as they have proved to be cheaper than going straight to e.g. Hertz's site. I used to have the best results from 'carhire4less' but it seems they've been bought out (by 'lastminute') - this year, try 'carhire3000' and 'AtlasChoice' - put your dates of travel through their sites and you should get a reasonable choice of cars/companies. Both of these also seem to offer an additional cost 'insurance excess waiver' for £2-£3 a day, (from memory) which means that if the worst happens you can reclaim the charge ( I had a car from Hertz one year where the 'excess' not covered by CDW was 1000 euro - made for a nervous trip!). Check out different kinds of car - I've had quotes e.g. for Audi Avant cheaper than an Astra. Worth noting though, that a week's hire is oftn little more than the cost of 2-3 days, and some companies based at the airport may have 'special weekend deals' if you do go direct. Check links at the airport site and ring them. Good luck, and enjoy your trip! |
