How's Germany doing in regards to the stock market?

The market here is tumbling, almost daily another bank collapses, the only bright spot is the VW stock which has been bucking the trend, only on the belief that Porsche will buy up VW. A number of car manufacturers have already reduced operation and are planning to reduce production and send thousands of workers on vacation. It is beginning to "trickle down" though the Industrial layers. Sales of big ticket items have dropped greatly (houses, cars, etc) hundreds of thousands of autoworkers are concerned about there jobs and the majority of people are watching what they spend. Everyone is hoping this holiday season spending will get manufactures through and give the market some breathing room. However as production slows it will trickle on down to the lower levels of manufacturing, hit the retail and service industry after the holiday season. If things are not improving by January the things will get even worst. The USA is still Germany's biggest trading partner, and when American stop buying german cars then things getting pretty ugly. People here are beginning to see how we are all in this together and no nation can go it on there own even the USA.

Germany is taking a hit. One advantage is Germany did not experience the inflated real estate prices like the US did. If the value goes down, it will not be as bad. At least, I hope.

A friend of mine sold some of this mutual funds to buy his daughter a car, a Mini. His thinks the value of the car will hold up. I think his teenie daughter will smash it.

Fine, thank you. We all share the same fate, which was as obvious as could be to come. Our governments on both sides of the "big pond" seem to be a bit clueless about working us out of this mess, but I'm sure the German and American people, united, will find a way. There must be one; and if we can combine German stubbornness with American optimism, we'll sure find a way.

Thanks for the laugh you gave me. I agree, most likely she will...
But at least it seems like he's a responsible father. Some people buy their girls (and worse, boys) some 100+x horsepower vehicle they simply can't handle.
And that's where we're back on topic: The governments all around the world (including the German government) gave some 100+x horsepower possibilities into the hands of young economists. They gave them power they couldn't handle, and that's what made the whole thing crash.
The bad thing about it is that, like in a car accident, you don't only pull yourself out of the genetic pool (which, after all, wouldn't be too bad for humanity and might win you a Darwin Award post mortem), but you damage other people's lives and property, too.
