How can I make friends?
I moved to Tubingen,Germany in October and I have had a hard time meeting people. I moved here from the U.S. and I just started taking a language course, so I have made a few friends, but not many. What are some ways to meet people? I've been pretty lonely and I'll be here until October
Maybe you could sign up and take a course or join a sports club. Tuebingen has a large student population too, so if you are younger you could always maybe do something student-centred.
When I was living in Germany I often was told by Germans that they are not known for being friendly. I always denied this to them and said "oh, no, Germany is a very nice place". What could I say??? I wasn't going to critical and appear closed-minded or negative.
I think most people who've travelled and have spent time in Germany know that it isn't always easy.

IIRC there is an english language "stammtisch" meeting once a week in one of the pubs in the old town. Ask around among the students or check the notice board of the Neuphilologische Fakultät at Wilhelmstraße 50.

Or maybe have a look online or in the local paper for contacts/friends (non-sexual!!!)? Maybe you find some people on Facebook or StudiVZ? It would be a start - if you get to know someone online you can always decide whether to meet up with them later or not...

Going out, making some sport activities, and the few friends you got it now do something with them too. Good Luck.

I'd suggest to be just humble and say hello to everyone be kind. Like I am. I have a lot of friends because I am always humble and kind. I do not annoy others I just say hello and smile.
