Hello,
There is another option with car sharing....This is where people who are driving from one destination to another advertise they have room in the car - you can call them and agree on how much money to pay to go with. This could be the cheapest way and I would be happy to help you - but I need to know when you are planning to go!

If you are brave... hitchhiking. You are not in such a dangerous country. There might be some bus lines between Dortmund and Hamburg... but I am not sure.
Another option is still the Bahn... you get cheap tickets that you can only use in slow trains. You must ask for it explicitly because these b*stards at the Bahn counter always try to sell the expensive tickets...:-) |

There are some night busses connecting bigger German cities. Maybe there is also a route between Dortmund and Hamburg. They are usually cheap, but not that fast.
An other option is to buy a "Sparpreis"-ticket from "Deutsche Bahn" (German Railways). You have to buy your ticket some weeks before your depature and they'll be cheaper for 25% or 50%. Best way is to ask at the ticket point ("Reisezentrum"). |
