the Euro thinking somewhat reflects the "welfare state" mentality in the US. So many people would like to buy control of others' lives by seizing the assets of the hardworking, and passing them out to sluggards. Since there are so many sluggards about, they attain a majority, and so continues the downward slide of civilization

How did America become so disgustingly CONSERVATIVE and SELF-RIGHTEOUS?

Some 50 years ago Germany got very valuable lessons in democracy and human rights from the Americans, for which Germany owes America a lot.
But now the teacher himself seems to have lost focus on these lessons a bit. Let me just mention Abu Ghuraib, Guantanamo and Florida.
So in my eyes the student gets rebuked for still remembering the lessons. Probably makes me a disgusting liberal, hm? Tell you what, I take that as compliment.

For someone to call Germans "disgusting", "sickening", and "ignorant" because they don't support certain policies coming out of Washington nowadays is provocative.

Moreover, considering 49% of American voters feel the same way as many of these Germans, one questions where some people get the hutz-pah to claim to speak for "America".

Some self-righteous Americans have taken on the role of "Imperial Overseer" while overseas, empowering themselves to ridicule any beliefs and values that contradicts their own. They arrogantly harp about past favors/heroics, tout their 'holier-than-thou' moral superiority, and demand complete obedience. And then they pass it off as what "America" thinks as if all 300 million of us are of the same mind.

They do not use the language of friendship and consensus. They speak to Europeans as one addresses slaves and lackeys. And then wonder why they get a negative response.

maybe theyve read a book ,,or watched as so- called compassionate conservatives ,, bombed children ,,and villages ,where no weapons were ,,or no taliban,, or al-queda,, the fools in america now ,,are the ones spending the taxes of two more generations,, on another viet nam,,, i grew up with the draft to go to war in nam ,,and i served for 3 years in regular army ,,and 3 years in active reserves,, and i wouldnt follow bush,, cheney ,,or any of those draft dodgers,, to a football game,, they are moral cowards ,,and physical cowards,, that when a chance to serve came ,,,hid and dodged the draft ,, so a lot of so called liberals ,,are probably being killed in afghan, and paki ,and iraqm as foot soldgers ,,so dont come to us liberals with blame,,,, the poor of america ,,,are the ones to fight and die,,, while your precious republican conservatives sit in college and complain about our patriotism ,,, in germany im sure the rich avoid the army
