I'm sorry to say, but Germany is a nation of slobs!!! The women looked like lesbians, no makeup and stuff..I didn't see anyone look like Heidi Klum. The guys looked like Alfred Hitchcock in drag, with lipstick on. I guess anything goes.

In the old days they had much more style and class, but now nothing, no make-up, and seems the men have greasy hair, and don't seem to cut it at all. What I would call the "verwarloster look" is in...

I was in Germany at the end of the 80's and went to Cologne. They dressed/dress about the same there as they did/do in the US. The younger people could be outrageous with their colored hairdos imitating their fave musicians, while the rest were fairly conservative as most of us in the US were at that time. There's really very little difference in clothing styles, unless it's during a festival. At those times, you will see performers in traditional German shorts/suspenders outfits.

Much better than today, and sexier too. No "plumber's butt" syndrome, and metal hanging off the face or huge ugly manly tattoos everywhere. A lot of German women who would otherwise be nioce-looking are GROSS!

They dress like August von Scheerbach from the movie'Stalag 17' mit Jackboots und lederhosen. lol!

they are more modest. My dad and his half of the family live there. I have been going since i was 4 years old to Koln. I dress kind of sexy, and you get looks, unless you are going to the clubs.
Trust me, you want to dress more modest there, unless you want o be glared at.

Hi there from Düsseldorf, Germany. The already given answers are really funny...lol I did not know yet that we Germans are snobs or that we dress like Americans...

First of all we look on the fashion that comes from Europe, especially from Düsseldorf (Germany's so called fashion style city). Go to the following link http://www.duesseldorf-tourismus.de/topic2.php?folderID=10006 and you will see something about the fashion in Germany.

Your question was the 80ies... The 80ies were influenced by "Neue Deutsche Welle" - means: New German Wave.. where people dressed funny like very coloured, tight pants with coloured stripes (for going out) or casual wear like tight pants (jeans) and the most used colours were blue and green.
