I went a few years ago on a study abroud. Went through a travel agent for the ticket over there; it was a lot cheaper through the agent than anything i found online actually.

Once i was over there, the eurorail passes are very pricey. Try booking travel on some of the discount air carriers over there like RyanAir. I got to see France, and England, for under 100 euros with RyanAir.

And their youth hostels are great if you dont' mind the company!

The 2006 World Cup in June and July (in Germany) is the biggest gathering of humans in recorded history. Each of the twelve host cities in Germany will host a press corp bigger than in Turin for the Winter Olympics.

In other words, you’d be very fortunate to get a ticket for $1200 to Germany this summer.
