How has the reunification of Germany been going?

Depends on who you ask. People from the West will generally say "things are great, never better!", but those from the East will most likely answer differently. The west basically "bought out" the east, with very little regard for the problems within East Germany. There are still rampant issues with infrastructure, unemployment is higher in the east, and there is a general lower standard of living, outside of the main cities. There is still resentment for the treatment of the East Germans, and that has never really been dealt with.

fine, thanks.

I agree with Melissa. I was born in the GDR, there are always 2 sides to a story. We can travel now and buy things (before it was more like, you have the money but can't buy anything with it, because the stuff you wanted wasn't available). But life has changed as far as people don't care about other people that much anymore. You hardly know your own neighbor. I'm from a small town there it's not that bad but I've been living in a city for the last few years and it's very anonymous. I'm also a "victim" of the unemployment rate in the East, I had to move to the West and I would rather work for less money in the East (that's how it usually it) than leaving my mom and grandparents behind.
Then again a good side is that I would never have met my fiance in the GDR since he's from the states.

But I know there are people in the East (especially the older ones) that would like to have the wall back.
