Depends where you go.

Tourist traps, of course, charge a LOT more.

I like to go to the Biergarten - rows and rows of long tables set, usually, in gravel. There I've paid 6.40 € per Maß.

Oktoberfest (you pay for the "experience") this past fall ran between 7,30 € and 7,90 €. The year before 6,95 € to 7,50 €.

If you're willing to travel for your beer, check these out:

Brauereigasthof zur Sonne, Mürsbach (Oberfranken)
You'll pay just 1,50 Euro for a 1/2 liter, a Mass is just 3 Euro. This is a family business which brews its own.

Landgasthof Schuder , Malgersdorf, Niederbayern
Their Mass price at 4 Euro is also cheap. Plan to stay for dinner, too.

Discount-Biergarten, Dachau, Oberbayern
Here a Mass costs just 3,60 Euro. Meals are also cheap. No meal here costs more than 5 Euro.

The big mugs of beer are only served in Bavaria, that is the most southern region of Germany - Munich being the capital city of Bavaria -. In Berlin the capital city of Germany and about 600 kilometers northeast of Munich you will not find the big mugs. Germans drink beer differently in different regions of the country. From 0.2 ltr in the north and west to the 1 ltr mug in the south. The prices also vary greatly: 1ltr in a major city will cost you around $12 outside the cities it tends to be a bit cheaper. Alles klar?

This big mugs are expensive but when you buy beer in a supermarket 1 liter costs from 0,60$ (0,44€) up! That's really cheap!

Padrina
for the oktoberfest 2007 ist was between 7.30 and 7.90 € for 1liter ( Mass) I guess it is a little cheaper normaly in Munich
it means between 10.81 $ and 11.70 $

The big mugs are typically served in the beer gardens in Bavaria. In "normal" restaurants you usually get half liter mugs.

One mug in Munich costs between 4,5€ and 7€, depending on how famous or near to the center the place is.

That would be 6 to 11 USD.
