How much does it cost to travel from bonn to saarbrücken return by train, and also how much by bus?
Depending if Deutsche Bahn has a special, you can travel anywhere in the country for 29 Euro.

Travelling by bus is not very common for such short distances; you should better take the train.
Look at http://www.bahn.de and klick on "Internat. Guests" for the english version. They'll give you all information about schedules and prices.
If you know exactly when you want to travel, booking at least three days in advance might save you up to 50% of the regular fare for a return ticket (must be over at least one weekend! e.g. departing Saarbruecken on a friday and returning not before sunday).
Travelling by slow trains (only!) on a saturday or sunday is 35,- EUR (for up to 5 persons); you can go as far as you like on that day.

You have to pay 42 Euros for a one-way ticket. You get rebates when you have a "BahnCard". If you speak German, you can check the website of the Deutsche Bahn to buy tickets.
