I'm sure there is an actual age limit, but I don't think it's enforced as much as it is in Canada and the States.

An example, I went there on a grade nine trip a while ago when I was 14 (I'm from Canada, not that it makes that much of a difference) I looked 14, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been able to pass for a 18 year old or whatever, but they didn't even ask for ID.

They're not very strict at all there, same with France. I was there when I was 15, and the same thing. I just walked in and bought it, they *most of them anyway* don't care.

courtney_dawn is right, they're not very strict here IN SOME PLACES. In other places, they may be very strict. You are allowed to buy beer and wine at 16, and liquor when you're 18, but you won't be allowed to stay at clubs as long as you like. When you're not 18, usually that means closing hours for you before the fun even starts. But at least you don't have to be 21 before being allowed to enter a club and buy yourself a drink. In other words, you can do a lot of things legally with 16 (except driving a car), and almost everything with 18. And id checks are rare if you just look old enough. But there may be some.

And, courtney, doorkeepers usually let you in when you're obviously a tourist. They're not so friendly towards Germans, as their parents usually live nearby and might cause trouble.

Mr. Uncut
for liquors (incl. cocktails with liquors) 18
beer+wine 16

if a adult is with you, you able to drink alcohol in public with 14 (at the biergarten or somehow)

16 wine 18 all the rest. They are very relaxed in germany about liquor but not that relaxed.

BLUES
after you are born you can drink mothersmilk
when you approx. 14 you try out alkohol like beer
when you like it you go on
if you don't than you stay with coke
when 16 you may drink in pups/bars/restaurants until 22:00hr
when you 18 you may drink as much as you like and wherever you like
when you are older and wiser you control your drinking habbits and continue with wine or whiskey

The rules are 16 for beer, wine, and smoking
18 for hard alcohol. however, if you look old enough, you can buy it when you are younger.
As for getting into clubs, you almost always have to show an id, so be prepared for that.
