How to move to Germany? |
Ok, I'm 18, live in Scotland, speak reasonable German, and in the process of improving it. I want to move to Germany before i'm 25. How should i go about this? I had a look around other peoples question's but they are all pretty much from non-EU citizens, so they have to mess about with Visas and stuff. Is it possible for me to work on a US army base, some other people suggested that on other questions, but since i'm not american, would i permitted to do that? So...em...any suggestions? |

Since you are an EU resident, you will have no administrative issues, you can move to Germany freely if you want. However, finding a job will be an issue. Jobs are not easily found here. You should sharply consider what qualification you have or what sort of qualification you can acquire in the next few years. Maybe it would be a good idea to make an apprenticeship in Germany right away, or to study at a German university? This would offer the chance to get in touch with German companies and possible employers.
If you want to live in Germany, good language skills will be a big advantage. Good luck in any case. |

Before moving to Germany I advise you to find a good job just to have some money to live. But it's up to your education and profession, if it will be easy or not. Fur Citizens of European Union there are no restrictions at all. You have almost the same rights and duties as common Germans. If the US-Army takes you as a civil worker - it's OK, but you can also work anywhere else. Also you could apply by German police or customs or as a english lector or language trainer.

There are also a few British /Scottish army bases in Germany. Or you could start to work in a pub, (we have a lot of Irish pub over here) or go to university. |
