Check expedia and orbitz for special American only deals, but HRS is -the- hotel booking site for most of Germany. It has great detail and information if distance from city center or train station is important to you.

Look on expedia.com -- that's how we booked our hotel for our Germany trip, and the reservation worked and the rooms were clean.
