I'm going to Schweinfurt, Germany in May. How is the weather, and what type of clothing should I bring?

As to weather, I guess Alwin said it all already. You can't really tell what the weather will be like. Some years it's already hot, some years its a rainy spring/summer... Be prepared for everything.
As to places you can go to: You're lucky. Schweinfurt is pretty much in the center of Germany, so I would recommend to go see:
Frankfurt am Main - German banking capital, 1.5 hours to the northwest
Rothenburg ob der Tauber - small town famous for its medival town center, all-year-christmas-ornament shop and so on

RhÃ¶n - national park with numerous hikes, huts, moores, views - oh, and the "Kloster Kreuzberg" on the "Kreuzberg". Great beer, very pretty church. Maybe worth seeing: The "Freilandmuseum Fladungen" Fladungen is a very very small town with a museum of old houses, that have been removed from where they stood (anywhere in Frankonia) to their place in Fladungen, where they have been reerected and are now open to visitors. Some of them are more than 300 years old.

WÃ¼rzburg, about 30 min. to the south. Very pretty town, two castles worth seeing, the "Residenz" and the "Festung Marienberg". Both offer guided tours in English. And also worth seeing is the "KÃ¤ppele", a barock church. I don't know how long you will be staying in Schweinfurt, but WÃ¼rzburg also has a lot of nightlife, "Feste" and festivals to offer throughout the year.

NÃ¼rnberg, of course, with the old castle, nice downtown, and the newest celebrity "Flocke" the icebear.

Coburg, Bamberg (Bamberger Dom - Bamberger Reiter), Regensburg - all of them also very lovely towns.

Dresden is also not too far off, with the re-errected "Frauenkirche" and the "Semperoper" and all the other architectural stuff.
Than there are Weimar, the town of the "Poets and thinkers", where GÃ¶the, Schiller, List and Bach all lived and worked. Very pretty town which also has gotten some unwanted fame as having had a concentration camp very close by. This is now a museum and memorial.

Wartburg, a small town in ThÃ¼ringen named after the Castle on top of the hill. Martin Luther lived and worked there (well to be more exact - he was kept prisoner there, but was allowed an office which is completely preserved and displayed).

What else... Gee, so much - ahm... The Limes, that is, the old border between what was, some 1800 years ago, Roman Empire and Germanic tribal lands, is also not far of and definitely worth to see. I guess the closest and most informative place would be the "Saalburg", which is a reconstructed Roman Army camp.

Oh, and the castle where the brothers Grimm lived and worked is also not too far off. It's in a town called "Steinau an der StraÃŸe".

That's realy all I can think of right now. Google some of the stuff and cities I told you about. I'm sure you will find the perfect fit for you. ;))

EDIT: Uh, just remembered a fun fact about my favourite castle in the world, the "Residenz" in WÃ¼rzburg: The Fresco in the Garden hall (Gartensaal, located downstairs, with french doors o the garden) was painted by another artist than all the rest of the frescos. The guy was fired because he made many mistakes painting, such as painting the same face twice (there are somany twins in that fresco, makes me grin every time) and painting the wings of the winged heavenly messenger out of his breast instead of his back...)
Also: Check out the "strange animals" such as the elefant in the big fresco over the saircase (biggest unsupported fresco in all of Europe and a UNESCO world heritage). The nose of the Elefant looks like a vacuum cleaner, and its ears are on backward. ;) And there are more "mistakes" like that. But in the end: how do you paint something you've never seen?

Schweinfurt has a chequered history. Lots of attention paid to it by the US 8th Air Force 1943 onwards.

The train Paris-Schweinfurt costs 131 euros at a regular price, but there are special offers available from 39 euros onwards (usually require early booking in advance). Check them out for your travel date at www.bahn.de. (There is an English language option somewhere on the page.)

German weather in May can be warm and sunny, but also rainy, windy and quite cold until around mid-May. Be prepared for both. You won't need winter clothing any more, but if you're bad on luck, you wouldn't like to wear t-shirts either.

As to places to go, I've really no idea. Maybe someone else knows more, or check out travel guides and the rest of the internet.

the weather should be fine because all public swimming pools open around 10th of may , t-shirt and a raincoat , maybe a jumper if it's windy

As Alwin said, there's very little chance that the weather will be anything like winter, but there could be a nasty April-shower-like wet spell.

Apparently, Eurolines has an overnight bus running from Frankfurt to Paris; they possibly have cheap offers, but it will definitely be much less comfortable than the train.

Places to see within 50 miles:

Frankfurt (historic old centre) - unless you want to see all the museums, 1 day is more than enough time to see the city centre.

Nuremberg is a very important historic town, as is Bamberg; but I've never been in either city, so I can't tell you how much time it may take to visit them.

I haven't been to WÃ¼rzburg either, but their castle is reportedly one of the most impressive in Germany.

A bit further off you would find Heidelberg and Schwetzingen, but maybe that's too far for you?
