I'm looking at staying in Munich Germany for 1-2 months August to October '08 any reasonable places to stay?

Long term but with private bath and free parking. Outside of Munich North, south, or east side. I've tried a few sites but none cheap the nightly charge was ok, but when you add the finders fee on it was pretty high. Usually it almost doubled the costs. thank you

Try the Hotel "Fresh Inn" in Munich. Its not so expensive, clean and a S-Bahn trainstation is not far away.... you can get more info at www.booking.com

Hi,

unfortunately the real estate companies take 2-3 month of rent as commission, so this is not an option for you.

You could check at
Immobilienscout (the link below will take you directly to rooms for rent in Munich)

http://partners.webmasterplan.com/click.asp?ref=234179&site=1798&type=text&tnb=114&prd=yes&attr2=0&attr4=M%25FCnchen&attr52=&attr53=&attr54=&attr55=&attr56=&attr57=&attr7=

Look for ads with "privat", because these will be rented directly from the landlords without a commission.

Another possibility is to look for a shared apartment (WG).

As in Germany summer vacation for universities last from 15. July to 15. October, many students try to rent their apartment/room during that time in order to cut their costs.

Another possibility would be to go to the website of the universities in Munich and put your request for an apartment there or search for someone looking for a roommate.

OUCH ! Munich is QUITE expensive. If you can, get out of the city and stay in a smaller hamlet withing driving distance!

Ibis Hotel is pretty reasonable. Check out sperrmuell.de for private ads. (like Craigs list)

You could try and rent a room temporarly. If you're lucky you might even be able to trent an apartment temporarly. The timeframe that you are planning to stay is the time where most university students have their semester break, quite a few of them will travel or move for those three months to another city for internships or similar, and most of them will be happy to rent out their place to save the rent. My room mate used to do that whenever she was travelling for more than 3 weeks.
Rents in Munich are very high though and I am not sure if you will have a private bath. But it will be cheaper than checking into a hotel for three months.
You could try one of the following websites:
