they eat black bread & butter for breakfast, take some peanut butter (they don't have any) and our host families loved oreos. Also, they are a little angry at americans cause of the war so it's better if you remember you're in their country & not be political. Enjoy the differences, the country is beautiful. Germans can be a bit reserved, its nothing personal.

if you already dont try to learn a few words of german i served in berlin for a while when i was in the army a few years ago and we found that the local german people are quite ignorant but if they see your trying to speak to them in thier own language they seemed to be a bit more helpful
