you can talk regular English it is a second language in their country, but if you want to show a little more respect, it is more polite to study their own language. for example if there was a German coming to your house and you couldnt understand them because all they speak is German how would you feel? so im saying that if you have time to learn German go for it, but if not thats fine. |

Many Germans speak english (probably more properly than I do) but not all and that is where the fun comes in....It 's a blast when people are trying to use sign language between each other...I get to try out my broken German and they get to use their (not so broken ) English...I like to practice my German, but when they find out you speak english they all want to try out their English on you......It can be fun....I always found this to be true... |

Considering I have been asked what language people in AUSTRALIA speak your question does not surprize me.
In Germany, German is spoken. Depending on where you visit in Germany you could very well hear almost every European language along with a few Asian ones. |

Everyone else gave you the correct answer - but really tthe Germans speak FRANK - not French - but as in HONEST clear and to the point.
Very much to the point, you might think they are arguing but for them it is a matter of fact conversation.
If you go to North and Central Western Germany, many people wil reply to you in English, but so so many in the South. |
