I am going to stay in Germany for some months and i wouldnt like to spend a fortune on hotels till i find a bedroom in shared flat (cheapest accommodation that is)
go to your local AAA and ask them about what you need. Make sure you include your uses of the plugs and adapters while in Europe [like using a hairdryer] They have a whole selection of different converters and plug adapters. They will give you the right ones for your various needs.

There's a chain in the city centre of every German town called "Saturn". Go in and ask for an adapter for North American sockets. It should only cost three euros or so.

Hotels should have adaptors. You'll find them also in the large electronic chains like saturn or media markt.
