I need a job!?

My Marine boy is being stationed there in the fall for a year.
I will probably be going with.

However, I would really like a source of revenue for myself, so I'm not just free loading off his military pay.

Can anyone help?

There will be jobs on base. Look at the different services offered on base and see if a job at one of those places would be interesting (bowling alley, movie theater, bank, grocery store, library, school, etc..) There are also jobs with the German economy that look for Americans if the base is large enough. Geico insurance sells car insurance to military people and at their office Americans are staffed.

go to chrma.com its the army civilian web site for jobs you can see what jobs they have at the location you are going to

People at the base should be able to counsel you about finding a job. the easiest is to look for non-military jobs in the US facilities. There are schools for us-military kids, shops and all kind of facilities you can try at.
Besides that, as a native english speaker, you can offer language training or revise drafts in english (for instance for university researchers).

If you want a job outside the military base you will need a work permit first.
Even though if you just give private English classes, people might not ask you for it, but a "real" employer will.
Keep in mind that it is illegal to work in Germany without a work permit.

You can get information on how to apply for a work permit here:

Contact the AAFES for a job.

Lizzy
well, at first you should know what you'd like to do, check out which jobs are offered in your American or even in the Germany community.
