ok well i live in germany and so does katie apparently, but i can speak english fluently because i came from the states...
you would be 100% satisfied with a german girl, trust me. i back your decision completely to come here. the best thing to do would go online and search for a family willing to host you for a period of time. after that, you can come here. if you want to go to school, some offer international classes where they teach in english, if you are too old for school, you can apply for a work visa. depending on what you want to do here, you will need a visa never the less. and you have to get it within 3 months from your arrival date. now, if you are coming for the sole purpose of finding a woman, look for a host family near the city, such as munic, hamburg, stuttgart.... i would not suggest berlin tho, it can be a little weird there. just recently we had oktoberfest here, in munic and it was awsome, something to remember your entire life, the largest party in the world. bavaria is extremely beautiful, and i think you may enjoy it there the most. if you are an american, that will help you also, ive come to realize that german women find american men very attractive no matter how you really look. overall, i think if you come here, you will never want to go back home, its the greatest place in the world here, the food, bier, women, places... the list goes on. just make sure you have the money to do it because everything is more expensive here.

Anyway I know that there are allot of Americans with German backgrounds in the States so you just have to search, however if you want a pure German that might be a problem.

sorry I can't give you specifics but try a university or see if there's an exchange program - you don't have to actually enroll but it might offer social opportunity
