German is a good language to learn. A few basic phrases would be Hallo-Hello, Wie Gehts-How are you, Entschludigen sie mich-Excuse me, Bitte-Please, Thank You-Danke Schoen (Don-ca-shane), Konnen sie helfen-Can you help, and Ich Mochte (Ik Merk-te)-I would like.

Hello,
I sucessfuly learned French after taking a few courses. The first couple of courses didn't do much for me until I tried CDs for my computer from a company called Advantage Language (they're famous because they've won a lot of awards).

The best part is, their course is only sale for a very short time at only $6.95 INCLUDING shipping and handling!!!!!! It's a steal at that price (they course includes 5 CDs).

Almost everyone in Germany knows English. And especially if you're going to places like Berlin and Frankfurt. But you should definitely try to learn some German before you go.
