I was born in Canada and hold a Canadian Passport. I have been in Germany many times.?

I do not need a visa to visit Germany. However, my wife is a landed immigrant in Canada, having moved here 2 1/2 years ago, but holds a Chinese passport. She has a Canadian landed photo ID. Does she need a visa to visit Germany or Europe in general? She was a lawyer in China with a degree as a Paralegal in Canada.

By next year everyone is going to need a passport to get on an airline flight just about anywhere in the world. I suggest you go ahead and get one for your wife. It will save a lot of hassles next year.

Just be sure that you have all the required forms filled out before you go to the passport ministry in your area. Applying in person also helps to speed things up. Be sure the photo is signed and dated on the back by the photographer. It is the little things that can cause the problems.

If she's officially chinese citizen she will need a tourist
visa.

Edit: A "european" schengen visa is only valid in the
countries that participate in that program. I.e. if you
want to visit poland you'd need another visa as poland
isn't participating in that program.

All your answers concerning visa for Germany and the Schengen Countries should be answered at the official web site of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany:
http://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/diplo/en/WillkommeninD/EinreiseUndAufenthalt/uebersicht.html

I think because your wife's holding a chinese passport she will need a visa; better contact the consulate responsible for your place of residence. For Non-Schengen-Countries you'll need to contact their consulates.
