Hi, I am from Germany/Bavaria.
Here in Bavaria it's very nice and you can visit lots of sights.
For example the "Neuschwanstein"-Castle, Munich (where are many museums, history...) and Regensburg are very interesting.
Regensburg has a very old town which is heritage of the world.
You shouldn't miss it.
Berlin is also very worth to see and it's full of history (German division,...).
But it doesn't have very old parts because it was bombarded very much in world war 2 (like nearly every German city, an exception is Regensburg and thew other little cities).
Frankfurt is also very interesting and it's the most "American city" in Germany because it's the only city with so many high buildings.
In Germany there are also many vegetarians and most people do speak English, excepted East Germany.
So that won't be a problem.
Going with the train is very expansive, above all if you don't buy your tickets a thew months before the trip.
Therefore renting a car would be the better option, I think.
I think food has the same prices than in the USA, but I don't know how high the prices to visit sights is in the US.
I only know that they are much cheaper in Germany than in most other European coutries (for example in Britain it's 200% more).
Now it's good to travel to Germany because the Dollar became stronger, last year American friends visited us and it was very expansive for them because of the low Dollar.

A trip with the ferry from LandungsbrÃ¼cken to Wedel is the cheapest tour to see parts of the harbour, the millionairs hill, Airbus - industries.
A trip with the boat around the Alster.

If interested in clean nature I recommend the Bavarian forest and the German alps south of Munich. Bavaria is the most popular tourist spot for tourists all over the world and from Germany itself.

A good variety of Vegetarian food is available everywhere.
