I think it would be worse - we would all have blood on our hands - well our ancestors anyway - and minorities would have been wiped out.

We would all be speaking German, be bi/tri lingual - which would be good...

Miss Taylor
How anyone can say that there would be "no difference" to this question is beyond me.
If Germany had won WW2, I'm more than 90% sure that our world would be at least marginally changed.
Of course, keep in mind the facts of the time--would the outcome in Vietnam have been different if Germany was in power as an Eastern force? Would the United States have tried to retaliate to defeat a powerful Third Reich government? Not to mention the Soviet Union...
But for us, what won the war (or at least what we're claiming was our "push" out of the war) was our nuclear firepower. If Germany didn't have the sciences that we had, the chances of them winning wouldn't have been all that great in the first place. Hiroshima not only forced Japan back but frightened the Soviet Union into our nuclear weapons race where we all eventually created the Hydrogen Bomb and reached a point of mutual destruction. Germany was never a huge contender in that particular race, so without the larger destruction force, they had little to no leverage.

Put it this way: If Germany had won WW2, we'd be a little different. Of course, taking over Europe is one thing--that's across seas for those of us in the U.S.
But you have to realize the barriers they would have been met with if they DID take control. Tired troops and exhausted supplies on both sides...chances are, that's when the slight difference in our modern day worlds would occur.

Germany, in trying to conquer it's European neighbors, would have been met with resistance and allied forces...eventually, whether you believe it or not, I don't think there was a chance Germany COULD have won...for long.

You would have seen Germany dominant for several decades in Europe much as the soviet union was for quite some time. Eventually though, I believe much as the Soviet Union collapsed, so would have the Third Reich, and maybe in a shorter amount of time. The type of fascism and totalitarianism could not survive forever in a world of open television and radio signals. The world on large would have even been more horrified of the German vision of a future Europe than they where of the Soviets. Thank god it didn't happen!

PS. mstay has alot of great points, and lets not forget, Germany was to be the first target of a nuclear attack, they where taken out of the war before the bombs completion. but it was America's policy to end the war with Germany first.

Alot different i would hazard to guess, i don't think we would have the freedom we have now. I htink if they won the war then they would have tried to take over the rest of the world of course America would retaliate and possibly Europe would no longer exist, it would be cool to have some kinda machine to show you this stuff huh?

how do you define 'won'.

if they defeated the Soviets not the USA and did not invade Britain, then I think the Nazi Empire would not have lasted long, perhaps a similar timeframe to the USSR

if they invaded and conquered Britain though ,or perhaps even invaded and conquered the USA (touch inconcievable) , then the world could have been a hugely, scarily different place.

lulu
For the vast majority, no difference. However, I'm sure they would have continued their ethnic clensing.

You want to know something interesting, I live over here, and have found that most Germans don't know their own history. They don't teach anything about Hitler, Nazi's, jews, the camps, anything like that in their schools. Their government fills their heads with lies. Some of my German friends have said that their media says that there are many of their people over fighting and dying in the war on terrorism. Hmmm, yeah not true. We try to tell them about this stuff and they think we are lying. It's pretty interesting what a government can do!

Wackford Squeers
for a start we'd all be speaking German and probably praising our Kaiser or Fuhrer or whoever was telling us what to do

Chase Smith
very different!!!firstly if they won WWI it would mean they gained control of Europe. i think eventually they would have gained power of most the world and it would probably a very dark world full of blue eyed blondes...which means i would be dead!
