Hi, im leaving germany after 11 months stay here. I am a workpermit holder.
1. Please share what is the procedure to leave germany.
2. How to file the income tax for 2008 in germany?
3. What are the necessary documents for income tax filing in germany.
4. Do i need to keep my bank account here or i can close it. If i closed it how can i get the incometax returns?
5. How to cancel insurance card?
6. how abt pension amount?
7. If any thing missed, pls share those details.

Make sure you get your "Abmeldebestaetigung" - official de-registration of residence (applies even if you're a European Union citizen). It's illegal not to, and boy do those Germans take such things seriously :) |

You can get the income tax papers for 2008 at your local "Finanzamt" already. Ask them, which Form you need.
You can close your german bank account, if you want to, I think finanzamt also sending the money to US or another bank accounts.
Or close the account, after you get the income tax.
Insurance card? Is that for health insurance, or car insurance?
Just write them some letter, before you go.
Any government offices, or insurance etc. write them letter and keep a copy for yourself in case. Also make a copy from the income tax papers too.
What about landlord, phone all that??? The same way, everything write it down (cancel the date all that) and keep copy.

i was internship student for 6 months.
1. i filled "abmeldung" form for leaving germany.
2. i didnt get any income tax, i dunno

4. you can close it at no cost. hmm maybe you should get a printout your tax documents and ask to Rathaus or somewhere else. i dont really know
5. contact the insurance company
6. dunno
7. close your bahncard if you have any, otherwise it will be automatically renewed the next year and you have to pay
8. make sure you dont have any other contract anymore there
9. get your deposit from your rented house
10. pack your luggages smartly.. do not overloaded. if needed, you should send it by deutsche post
make sure you dont have any problems left there, especially about money... take care |
