Well Bamberg is pretty much in the middle of Germany. So you can go anywhere. Interesting spots for Americans are usually Prague, Paris,anywhere in Italy, and it will only take u like an hour or 2 to fly out to London. Everywhere else you can get to by train. And it wont take longer than a couple hours, so its perfect for weekend trips.
You will love Bamberg, it's gorgeous out here. So much sightseeing(cathedral and castles even back from the 1400s) and the best breweries!!

BAMBERG!!! oh you'll like it. It's like a winter wonderland. they've had so many snow days this year its sick. There are mountians all around and traveling is convient. go everywhere while you can. day trips, weekends, everything! you'll love it! |

Bamberg is a very nice city. Its city centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
What I do recommend you (especially since you are not too far from it) is to visit Neuschwanstein Castle. It is the most magnificent castle in the world, and you won't regret your small trip to it (it is in Bavaria, near Fussen) |
