as always, make sure that you are aware of your surroundings. as my dad said before i went backpacking in europe for two months "don't walk around with your head up your ***." my dad has a way with words. i've never had a problem in northern italy (north of rome) all the way to belgium. however, i studied in naples and travelled southern italy and in general a blond american signals baywatch hooker to some. just keep your head about you, don't get into a mob of people (easier to pinch you and your stuff that way), stand near nuns- people always act fine around nuns. you will make friends within minutes of being in europe so you will rarely be alone anyway. when you take photos, make sure either your back is near a wall or other defense or that your friends are looking around at the people. this will discourage anyone from knocking you down while you are distracted. have fun!

Sure.

Well… how North? It’s pretty cold there, I wouldn’t go there without a car or organised travel. As for the language, most of the Scandinavian people speak English, so you should have no problem. Have a nice time. :-)

This depends. Do you have legs? I would be more afraid of walking around in USA than here. From Germany.
If you are not white, be careful in smaller cities and towns in the former east Germany. Otherwise have fun!

Great points folks are making.......yes you will make friends so easily. Naples; indeed intense! Anyway US is far worse. Heed the east germany advice and you should be fine. Be careful at night though, hang with people, don't walk alone at night in unpopulated areas and findout where the bad sections are. Common sense rules. Read about or study Jeet Kune Do. Great for anyone and I think especially for women. ALL about some common sense....Bruce Lee is unreal! Have fun, I am going to northern Europe too(Germany,Netherl,Denmark,Swed & Norw). Write me if you want and I can relate more info if you need, I've been 3 times before. I won't bite I promise.........

Try flying......... with flocks of poultry. Chicken!
Beware of Police-state attitudes in Scandinavia, sort of like Darfur (hehehehehe)
