I wouldn't travel with more than $100 in cash. Take the rest in travelers checks and if you have a Visa and/or American Express you're all set. As for the ipod you would be safe to take a converter with you. Radio shack sells a nifty travel kit.

Take your regular ATM card, it'll work here if you have the 'cirrus' or 'star' symbol on it and it needs to be one that is connected to a regular checkings account, doesn't work with a savings account. Don't bring more than €100, can't be replaced if lost or stolen.
Or bring traveller checks, they are accepted in every store here like regular cash plus you get your money back in case they are stolen or lost. Also regular credit cards work fine, but are not accepted in every store.
About the ipod, if you can switch it to 220V it will work, if not you need a large heavy transformer. There are so called 'internet-cafes' pretty much all over the place, might be easier to use those, they a not too expensive.

you'll have to buy a converter, and if your staying for a week take about 600, just to be safe. oh, and don't forget a dictionary.

Umm like $400. When my brother went to Italy that was what he took. And he came back with like $100. also i dont think you will be able to charge the ipod. I know for a fact that in spain and italy its different from here in the us. so im guessing its also different in germany

It would be better to use American Express Traveler's checks. It's much safer than carrying cash around. If you lose them they can be replaced. Ask around many people get them for free from their bank.

I would plan on taking about 100 a day.

Also you can order foreign currency from your bank and request a currencey conversion % so you know if you are getting ripped off when you pay for something while your over there.

all of ur money..???

I would just take a couple hundred. You should be able to access your US bank account by using your ATM card and avoid paying fees to convert the currency over this way. Last time I was in Europe, I believe there was a 3% charge for converting from one currency to another.

as for cash goes....it all depends on how big of a spender you are. if you are a person who loves to spend cash take more than what the teacher says. if you arn't a big spender then don't take as much.

i went to paris and i took what i thought was good for me.

and yes you will need a converter if you are taking appliances(hair dryer for example) but if you arn't taking anything that will need to be plugged in then don't.

i had a pre-loaded card already converted. and oh yeah american express isn't really reconized there....well in europe that is

Germany uses 220V power. The US uses 110V. So you will probably ned a converter. I do not own an IPOD but if the power cord has a b on it it will tell you if it is already compatible with 220v. Most laptop computers are, but just look on the box on the power cord. If it does not say so you will need a power converter do not just use the plug converter it will cause appliances to blow up. Just ask my daughter about her Game Cube. As for as dollars go. I do not know you living expenses or spending habits. But kep in ind the exchange rate. A dollar will get you about$0.75 in Euro.

Usually the leaders will tell you what to bring and what not to bring, even with money. Don't take too much money.
