In Germany, is it Conrad or Konrad?

Is it spelt with a C or a K or either?

Show all answers

probablygraham
Both, but Konrad is more common.

down_under_lover_forever2006
Konrad is right.
When spelled with "C" it's mostly a proper name such as an electrical shop chain.
It's pronounced like it is spelled but with the "a" like in "ahh" when showing your tongue at the doctor.

Konrad ist more common (think : Konrad Adenauer) than Conrad Veit (famous actor) of the past, but both can be used and it would not be a problem.

Mostly Konrad, but there are also Conrads.

Pronounced kawn-raht.

A quick search on the German site(click flag at bottom of page) reveals that both are in use. And also that "Konrad" is also possibly the name of a shop: my German nicht sehr gut.Though "Conrad" had more hits.

Why did you ask?
