Frankfurt's red light district is safe and regularly patrolled by police. Walk through the whore houses, stay away from the street gamblers (they rip you off) and don't go in the over prized bars. You will also find a lot of drug addicts roaming the streets looking for valuables in cars but they usually stay away from you personally. The whore houses are safe, they are all under surveillance and clean.

It's somewhat scary. When you go there, you go at your own risk. If anything happens to you, the police will basically not care as *you* chose to take the chance. We stayed a few streets over from it once and we walked quickly and with a purpose anytime after dark. Good luck to you.

it's the same anywhere, if you look vulnerable you will, unfortunately, attract trouble

I went there some years ago and it was sleazy, for sure, but not dangerous.

I´ve never found Soho to be dangerous either, nor Amsterdam.

The main thing is to avoid drinking too much, but perhaps that´s missing the point rather!
