Hamburg is more elegant overall, but with every city, it depends on where you go.

Berlin certainly has more of a capital city flair to it, but I personally don't like that. Even though Hamburg is not .that. much smaller, it still keeps its very original charm. Berlin is a city on the move, lots of changes have taken place during the past 20 years and the city itself is split into so many different quarters today, with every quarter having its very own distinct characteristics. Hamburg embodies different cultures, quarters and lifestyles as well, of course, but not to such an extent.

Bottom line: if you're looking for an ultra-modern, always-changing city, go to Berlin. If you prefer laid-back sensitive people with a great sense of humour and a bit of old charm, go to Hamburg. :)

PS: I'm not at all partial, am I... ;)

Yes Hamburg is more elegant than Berlin. More sopisticated. More fun .... I love Hamburg. I travel there every year! Hamburg is Germany`s boomtown - while Berlin is one of the poorest cities in Europe. Only billions of federal euros save Berlin from collapse. Have u been to Hamburg?

Hamburg is also N Europe`shopping capital

Yes Hamburg is more elegant than Berlin.
But I like Berlin more, because this city is just take it easy and fun city. London is not elegant city is bigger than Berlin and I like the people there you can't get enough watching them, everybody so different and having very different style clothes on. I like it.
You just need to visit this places, its great.

I am particularly fond of Berlin, so I will say no ... although perhaps with all the building and re-shaping that is occurring in Berlin, this may change.

Both are working cities, that is they are cities for people to live and work in as well as for grand buildings, which does have an effect.

Cheers :-)

Yeah,

I particulary like the background scenes in Hamburg as they goose step by more than in Berlin.

Heil Hitler!! Nazis
