Hey flacun, absolutely not. Charlottenburg is a terrible place to stay. I used to live in Berlin for years. I would never recommend Charlottenburg to visiting friends from overseas. Try to get a hotel in Prenzlauer Berg, that is an extremely charming neighborhood in the old east. The best, and unfortunately most expensive, is Mitte. Mitte is the geographic center of Berlin but is very charming and within walking distance of all the sites. Charlottenburg is a long taxi, train, or bus ride away (another drawback to Charlottenburg is that they don't have any street trams, as they do in Prenzlauer Berg or Mitte).
