Hi from Germany! Yes, there is chocolate made in Germany, but the most renowned manufacturer is "Lindt", formerly known as "Lindt & SprĂĽngli", from Switzerland, and there is "Zotter" who make delicious chocolate specialties, from Austria. But they DO speak German there. Sort of. (And, no, Austria is not near Australia. It's south of Germany. -- Actually, both are, but Australia is a little bit MORE south.)
The best chocolate in the world, however, comes from Belgium. They also have a German-speaking part in their country, but I don't know if their chocolate is manufactured there. |

There are plenty of trad chocolatiers in Berlin alone. Btw Lindt make horrible chocolate. The best chocs are manufactured in Belgium. |

German chocolate cake (the stuff with coconut in it) is not German. It was originally made by a man named German, hence the name. Thumbs down all you want, it's a fact. And I lived in Germany (Manheim). |

If you are talking about german chocolate as in german chocolate cake, then "No" it isn't.
The cake is made with "Baker's German's sweet chocolate", which was developed by a person with the last name of "German".
German Chocolate Cake isn't really known in Germany.
You can read about it here:
