been to both places many times.
Hannover (where all the discos are) is a f.u.c.k.e.d. up place.
to many Hells Angels at the doors, to many punks, too many children in those large discos.
Bergen got not really a night-life but lots of places crowed with army people. Better go to near by Celle. very nice city, very nice bars, very good night-life.

I guess you're above 18 so take it easy, normally they wont check your ID only if there is some other trouble goin' on.
Alcohol as much as you can drink.
Dress like else in Europe, no dress-code for disco's or bar's or night-clubs.
have a nice time in Germany

Dress like you would at home; there are so many different styles, you don't have to worry about seeming over- or underdressed in any way.

Drinking age is 16 for beer and wine, as already said, and 18 for everything else. It is advisable to carry i.d., because it might be checked, but usually isn't if you clearly look like over 18.

So that's that for Hannover. If by "Bergen" you mean the Bergen in Norway, I can't tell you their laws; but probably you mean the German Bergen in the state of Lower Saxonia.

Drinking age is 16 for beer and wine, 18 for everything else. Clothes are pretty much the same--Germans tend to wear darker colors and more stripes in my experience.

blue skies
drinking age is 18, wear the same as what you would wear over hear, jeans, boots and a sexy top, sorted

Clifhanger
dont forget your passport in states when you travel to germany :P:P

becuz they really are strict with I.Ds ....

wimbach

Just adding to what everyone else put but you are allowed in pubs and bars (not clubs) at 16 in Germany but you must be out of them by midnight - just think Cinderella!

Orla C
You have to be 18 to buy alcohol there. Girls wear the same on a night out as they do in Britain, or wherever it is you're from. Bring some form of ID with you when you go out, you must carry it in EU countries now, and they are very strict in Germany.

Nurse stat
Dress like you would in the US .Drinking age is 16 of Beer and Wine. For most places like Discotheque ,Clubs you have to be 18 to enter, there are exception for Discotheques, but than you have to be out by 10:00pm.
Yes ,you have to carry an ID all the time, like your Drivers License.
Enjoy you visit.

I should give Bergen a miss if I were you - boring small town Germany.

Smile in Germany u have to carry an ID with u --- it is the law. Germany issues ID cards for all its citizens.

Try the party capital Hamburg.

janisjoplin1313
I just came from there. The drinking age is 16. I'm 19 and I never got carded once. Just wear what you normally wear out and I think you'll be fine.

Zoe Dot
so, you're british, then...
yes, germany is strict, what do you think???

IRISHBANDIT
the age to drink alcohol is 16 in germany. But you must leave the restaurant at midnight.Only when you`re 18 you can stay still till they close.Wear what ever you want. For a discothek don´t wear a balldress or sportsshoes. Some of the Security and Discotheks don´t like it to wear Sportswear. And don´t let you come in.

Have you never seen the great escape? They're always asking to see your papers!
