Is it worth visiting zugspitze in december?

Will the cable cars operate and how abt the visibility and snowing / cold conditions. Will it be convenient to travel to the top of zugspitze?

The cable cars will only be operating as long as it's safe, so don't be afraid of too much ice and snow. I don't know what you understand as "convenient"; if you find overcrowded cable cars and freezing cold "convenient", yes, just do it. Pack yourself into some warm clothing, and take your camera with you. It's even worth the trip on a foggy day (less tourists). Take a lunch bag with you; the "Zugspitzhütte" may be overcrowded, and there can be a long wait until you get something to eat.

You can't really reach the top with the cross on it; there is a gate with a sign that says "experienced climbers only", and you have to ask for permission to cross it and climb up to the top of the mountain. But watching it from the Zugspitze tourist site, I think, is more than enough.

Snowboarders mostly love the "Zugspitzblatt", which is a bit lower, but still has steep hills that can be neck-breaking. Nothing for the unexperienced, really.

I agree with Alwin E. and I would say it's always worth the trip to the top of the Zugspitze! Bundle up in warm clothes!

If its a clear day, you will never forget the view, if its overcast, you will never forget the cold.

Sunshine
Its really nice it will be cold there.

Yes the cable cars operating, but there will be so much snow and ice and very very cold.

I was there in early September and it was completely clouded over, iced up, and freezing cold. We couldn't see anything but it was still worth the experience and the 47 Euro. I would say it's worth it any time of the year.
