Is littering(throwing trash on the ground) illegal in Germany?
Is it illegal to throw trash on the ground in Germany? Like if you eat a candybar and throw the wrapper on the ground, is that illegal? and please tell me what the word would be in Germany because I looked up "littering illegal germany" and cant find anything if it is.
The word for "littering" or "throwing things on the ground" is "wegschmeißen": "ich schmeiße weg, du schmeißt weg, er schmeißt weg / ich habe weggeschmissen, du hast weggeschmissen" etc.
It is illegal in some communities and may be fined by as much as 40 euros (the same applies if the police catches you driving with an unfastened seatbelt), in other communities, it is considered a "minor offense" and largely tolerated. But you never know for sure, so better don't do it. What's so difficult to put the wrapper in your pocket and dispose of it properly at home?

Generally it is not allowed in all European countries. Isn't it the same in your country? In Germany you also may be punished with a money penalty which may differ between the cities or counties. Usually it may be not less that 15 Euro and reach 500 Euro. If you litter on private property open to the public (for example bus- or train station) the owner may treat you by civil low or charge you with the cleaning costs.
