Is "goth" a big thing in Germany?

I was just curious, because someone associated cyber-goth with Germany (I forget how exactly) and I was looking at a list of goth clubs all over the world and last I counted there was like, 55 in Germany. Also, they have that big goth festival, Wave Gotik Treffen.

Goth is for adults. The goth kids we call "emos". I used to be a Goth some 20 years ago but all that's left is that I like Siuoxsie and the Banshees.

i would have to say from living here for a few months that they are jus like americans in style and music to an extent. from what ive notice the youngers people are more into hip hop more so than anything. there are skater kids punk kids hip hop kids pop kids so its very mixed, not too much of anything(not in a bad way, i love it here).

SCIENCE
germans prob do have lots of goths and stuff but they don't think it is a "big thing"...germans let people be how they want to although they are more "posh like"...which is why they do talk about people and prob make fun of them but they dont do it in front of them or bully them in any wy...so thats good...

You see them hanging around certain places like Alexander Platz in Berlin. Some of them beg and some just drink beer.

It seems like it's fairly popular over there. I was there in 2004 and didn't see a ton of goths (or grufties as I believe they're called there), but when I was in Ulm I saw a fairly large group hanging out together and I think I saw some in Munich too. And yeah, as you mentioned, they have Wave Gotik Treffen, along with other festivals such as the Zillo Festival and M'era Luna.
