LUCKY YOU....what unit you going to? It sucks there....Just do your time and get out of there. I was stationed there and I hated it..2-63....The truth is that there is nothing there. Its primiraly a training site. There is the ghettoarmy town of vilseck with some germans living nearby. There is like two small bars with some disease infested girls (maybe30) but look how big the post is....its huge... The next closest thing is nurnburg. This is where most will go to party on the weekend. If thats not your thing and your more grown up there is alot to drive to or take the train and see...Take your PASSPORT and go to Czechelslovakia. Its just a couple of hours away...careful for your car though they WILL steal it....take the train..and then there is nothing else really around there if you dont want to drive for 3-5 hours to get somewhere...you need more info or question drop me an email at sandyb150102 at yahoo.com....

For do cheap shopping you can also go by car to the Chech Republick. It's not too far.

The area ( upper paltinate ) has a beautiful landscape, over 600 castles and several museums tourists can visit. You'll find many historical villages. The nearest larger city would be Regensburg. You can also visit Munich, which is not far away.

I am German, but I have actually not been there. But those are some things I could find out on German wikipedia
