Nope, there's hardly any snow - it's a warm 25°C out here right now. It must be much cooler into the woods, the Black Forest, that is, but definitely not for any winter sport. If you're desperate to go skiing or such, check out southern Bavaria, or better yet cross the border to Austria and Switzerland. Surely the alps and other glacial regions still have something to offer, although it's rather the wrong season... Check these out:

Yes, there are Mountain Rescue Teams (Bergwacht), together with the German Red Cross (Deutsches Rotes Kreuz) all over the country, including the Black Forest (Schwarzwald). A person may start to participate in the youth rescue team starting 10 yrs of age, and by 14 may aspire to be a member. For the latter there are trainings and tests, so you better practice your German ;) Start here:

As for the difficulty to get employment, I guess you just have to see for yourself. Why not write them an email and inquire?

There is no snow im Schwartzwald in the summer. As to getting a job with the Bergwacht I have no idea since I never applied. I do think however that outside very few people, the Bergwacht is all voluntary and only woks when required. |
