Why? |
Is this really the future for Germany & Turkey? |
There are predictions of countries in Europe losing their national identities all the time and this is denied by many
However, look at this prediction for 2015
http://s454.photobucket.com/albums/qq262/whyohwhy99/?action=view¤t=Europe2015.jpg
Is this really the future for Turkey and Germany - that mainland Germany will become "New Turkey" and Germany will be no more? Additional Details Thank you both so far for two very thoughtful answers. |

I'm German, and I have friends who are third-generation "immigrants". (I don't like to use the word for people who were born here.) Some of them have acquired German citizenship, some have not. They're all well educated, have their jobs here, are mostly fluent in four languages (German, Turkish, and the English and French you learn in higher schools), and none of them wishes to return to the country their fathers came from, except for vacation. (But hordes of Germans fly to Antalya each year to enjoy the best time of summer in some southern climate for a cheap price. Where's their national pride then? Called in sick for a fortnight, or what?)
Remember, it was the Germans who started building the Berlin-Baghdad railway (via Istanbul), and who called the Turks to our country to help rebuild it.
And I am absolutely sure that there are no more religious fanatics among the Muslims than among the Christians. (The people I know mostly are disbelievers like me. Their parents are muslims, mine are catholic christians. So what?)
I think Turkey should join the EU. Somewhen. It's just natural that they're part of the continent, but I think the EU has some bigger problems than dealing with Turkey now. The economic downturn is a fact, and our governments must solve that problem first. In my opinion, the EU expanded eastwards too fast and now has to carry the burden of the poor eastern member states. Turkey must get their laws straight to adapt to common western standards, and solve their interior problems. They can do it, and they're a large economical power.
It took decades to create the EU as it is now, and it's far from perfect still. If Turkey joins in in 2015, 2020, or 2025, that's really not important. But they will join the EU someday. |

No, this very clearly is NOT the future for Europe or whichever European country.
You would have to be very uneducated to not see that it's anti-islamic and xenophobic propaganda.
The map you link to was probably drawn up by Russian extreme-right fanatics/Russian neo-nazi's.
The way you ask your question is not neutral and inquisitive but leading and provocative. The subject of your question is insulting. You pose offensive falsehoods as facts.
Therefore it is not so strange that you get emotional answers from people who you then choose to insult.
I don't believe you are sincere in your explanations of why you have posted this question and this map. I believe you are not looking for honest answers or debate but I believe that you have some kind of hidden agenda instead. Your additional comments directed at me and other answerers only add to this opinion, as does the fact that you have obviously only opened your Yahoo answers account for the sole purpose of "asking this question" several times across the travel section.
Since you asked the same question several times I don't see why I shouldn't give the same answer several times. |

The case has been over-stated in order to make a point. There are a number of interesting items, but your question deals only with Germany and Turkey.
It is indeed true that Turkey's aspiration to join the EU has been blocked by concerns that allowing them to join would put the whole of Europe off-kilter. If that came about, it is possible that there would be a mass migration from Turkey to Germany, much in the same way as the UK was popular with Poles.
Turks have been "Gastarbeiter" or "working guests" in Germany for many years, so their friends, uncles, aunts etc. could well come over as well.
Coming back to the Poles, the immigration was only temporary, as Poland will not be hit so severely as the UK by the Credit Crunch, so many are returning home.
As countries who join the EU do so in order to increase their living standards, there would be a temporary outflow to more prosperous States, but then a swing back in the opposite direction, once the home country's affluence increases.
The map therefore is unduly alarmist, but does provide some warnings for the future. |
