Try the Arbeitsagentur, they'll be able to give you an idea what the job market is like for your area of expertise. Let me warn you, thought, that most crafts are faced with strong competition on the German market already. But all the same: good luck!

Get on the enternet and search the various towns for the Irish Pubs in Germany. Pubs are information centers, someone I am sure will known someone etc. Get the phone numbers of the pubs and call them up.
Irish Pubs are pretty amazing things one can find almost anyone or anything Irish they.

Best of Luck

Try the German Embassy - they can put you in touch with English-speaking employers who are probably looking for guys like you. But with 3 million houses due to be built in England why look abroad?

Hi! My husband is American and got out of the Military in 2003. However, he was lucky to find a job here as a truck driver, because the "Landratsamt" fortunately put his truck license into German without us having him to go thru a school. Anyways, it was a very bad paying job, and he started looking in foreign countries again. He now works for a company in Illinois and it is a well paid job! In short: it will be very hard for you to find something over here in Germany, because our unemployment rate is still very high, and a lot of jobs are very badly paid!
Oh, my landlords - Germans - moved away from Germany now to Australia, because he got a much better job there then over here... Just think about it before you do such a big step!

@jellyrocker: you are extremely outdated, sorry. A bunch of military bases are going to shut down in Germany, plus, Aafes is not really interested in hiring ppl other then family member or retired military which plan on staying in Germany...

German places aren't the only places that offer jobs!

Here in Germany, there is a military program called AAFES (Army & Air Force Exchange Services) that offer jobs in the PX/BX's (Post Exchange/Base Exchange) food court, book store, main store, power zone, commissary, etc.

There are a bunch of jobs off base, so just look for them at aafes.com !
