The best way would be to go from Munich towards the Bodensee cross the lake with your car in Meersburg to Konstanz get on the highway to Zurich and from Zurich towards Basel you will see before Basel the exit to Stein am Rhine, think its the easiest way to go.

it will give u the exact turns u have to make and the exact streets u have to take. very reliable.

Go to amazon.com and look up "European Road Atlas". Order it in advance and have your route planned out before you get there. If not, you can buy a road atlas at Gas stations or at bookstores (I think even at the airport in Munich they have them). Keep in mind that going to Switzerland you will need to purchase a "Vignette" - a sticker you put on your windsheeld where your real view mirror is - which permits you to drive on the major highways. You can buy it at the border, at any gas station and perhaps even at the rental car counter at the airport (not sure, but you could ask). If you don't you'll need to drive the country routes and it will take you forever to get there....and they do have check points set up to make sure you have one. Same is true for Austria, btw. Ejoy your trip. Stein am Rhein is a very nice town.

Hi,

you can find a map including the driving directions at viamichelin.com.
Just fill in the starting and the destination points (for exact routing information you need the street names too, otherwise you will routed from center to center)...
You will find a detailed route plan there. Clicking at the map a extra window with a bigger map will pop up. You can zoom to each of the route parts and print them out...

Departure München (Munich)
Destination 8260 Stein am Rhein

Time and distance
Time: 03h18 including 01h37 on motorways
Distance: 279km including 175km on motorways
