Moving all my stuff from East to West Germany? |
Am in East Germany at the moment /near Magdeburg and Stendal/, but my new contract is in West Germany /Dusseldorf/.
Am selling all my furniture, so i would have thought a combi-car would be alright to move all my stuff, which is gonna be like 3-4 suitcases + all my books.
The problem is that i am not a driver myself /dont even have a driving license/ and it would be difficult for a colleague of mine to drive me, cos few r on holiday, the rest - working on shifts and therefore physically unable to drive me so far away.
I would highly appreciate shall anyone give me any advice, am really quite stressed about the whole thing.

i just wanted to give an idea whereabouts i am and where i have to move to.
a friend told me today its very cheap to send stuff by the Deutsche Post, so thats what i am gonna do. its 12-13 euro per parcel with weight up to 31kg.
and the germans are not that friendly and dont do such big favours that easy, so ur advice didnt help at all. |

In addition to Deutsche Post also check through the local '' Speditonen ''
those are professionals to move all kind of stuff and you might be able fins some one doing it cheaper than the Post.
Sometimes students do this kind of work also to earn some extra money it might be worth checking that out too.
@ Mr Nice guy just because there is no more GDR the geography hasn't ceased to exist there will always be east west as there is north south.
Also Berliners are known to be a bit rude lol the famous 'Berliner Schnautze'. |

We used professional movers, when we moved across the country. WE paid 1200 euro for a whole apartments furniture to be moved. Might look into a relocation company they can give you better rates than deutsche post. |

Please don't forget there is no East Germany West Germany any more. Used to be two countries, but not so any more.....
About the furniture, if you don't drive and can't hire a car is to build up a new friendship with someone. Hopefully they can drive and help you move. I make it sound much easier than it really is, but people in Germany are just so friendly and generous over there. |
