You mean, "Amikippen"?

"Ami" is the friendly German word for "American", and also for "friend" (like the French word "ami").
"Kippe" is our colloquial word for a fag or cigarette or any kind of smoke.
The "n" is just "several of them", like the "s" in English: friend - friends.
And U.S. soldiers are still called G.I.s here; so make it: G.I.-Kippen.

And I haven't bought any for a year or two. I suppose the black market price must exceed the price of a box of regular cigarettes bought in eastern Europe, which go for 18 to 23 euros a box (400 cigarettes).

Take it for granted that you'll pay the same price (with no sales tax) than at home at the barracks.
